Muniz - and the Jan window

I imagine Muniz and Mowett are costing us a fecking fortune in loan fees and wages. I'm not sure if we can terminate them in Jan (don't been litteraly 😂)

Hackney has over taken Mowett 10 fold. Also frankly I'd much prefer Coburn ahead of Muniz. Half the price and actually developing our own young player rather than someone else's.
Agree 100%.

Boro bring in a couple of useful lads from Manchester United to provide an option up front and a more deep-laying player to provide ball to midfield and front men.
Muniz is like Connolly and Balogun rolled into one.
With cover - hes better off going back to London.(n)

I have seen nothing from Muniz or Mowatt that excites me, so to maybe save a few quid or get a decent striker in January im hoping irons are set in the fire to terminate their loan spells if of course they are allowed too be done. We have found Hackney which fills that position and Crooks & McNair are there for cover also. Hopefully a couple of players to help the squad in January will have us climb into the playoffs come May.

We may not be able to cancel his loan but maybe not playing him is designed to force Fulhams hand and make them recall him. He is their asset at the end of the day and us not playing him is hurting his value and development.
I did wonder with him not getting off the bench whether we were trying to force something contractual to be triggered (or possibly not triggered)? Either not contributing as much to salary, not having to pay an increased loan fee, or if he doesn't feature in 'x' number of games he can be recalled.

He's nowhere near as poor as his minutes under Carrick would suggest he is IMO. I suppose a 'manager' lives and dies by his results and our wins ratio is pretty good currently! It is also the player the head coach is choosing to bring on ahead of Muniz who has scored the winner in the last two.

So maybe I'm reading too much in to it and Crooks is just doing the business in training.

He's developing by playing regular first team football for Bristol. He'd be a sub for us, not developing.
Totally agree, he looks like our most promising player in years and he's a clinical finisher and has always looked a handful when brought on from the bench.

But I seem to recall in most of his starts he look pretty anonymous and a bit lost at times. I honestly believe he's in the best place he can be. He's getting minutes in a tough league, getting goals and seems to be a bit of a cult figure with their fanbase. I'm pretty sure he'll be loving it, and he can come back in pre-season with a bit more muscle on him, pointier elbows and a bit of swagger from being away and doing the business. It's up to him in training and in the friendlies to prove to Carrick he's ready to lead the line for us.

I do wonder a little of how he'd fit in? He's not going to be the little nippy one closing down, running the channels and harassing the opposition back line. So he's going to be utilised instead of Akpom in our current system as the link up/hold up man you would think?

On Akpom's current form and goal scoring run, Josh isn't going to start ahead of him, and although we've seen little so far, you would think Hoppe is good enough cover, and we're using Crooks there too.

Good points, rare to see a player with Akpoms skill set, strong, good hold up play and finshing but also can drop deeper and play some lovely passes which he did on more than one occasion yesterday, not sure josh has that in his locker from the limited time I've seen him here and at Bristol rovers.

I was always sceptical of having our main striker as a loanee. You want someone who is leading the line to be totally committed to the club and someone who will grow with the team, not a bloke here for a season then gone. Id like us to sign someone permanent and send him back.

Mowatt has been a massive let down and must be costing a small fortune - get rid and bring another youngster into the matchday squad

I'm hoping we can terminate Mowatt's loan option.

He's a waste of money and space.

Muniz is one I'd take or leave. I think he's a good option but I wouldn't be sorry to see him go back to Fulham.

Muniz is clearly a quality player but I suspect we’re not giving him the minutes with the hope Fulham will recall and that he doesn’t really suit our system of workhorse speedy number 9 and skillful play maker number 10

Too many loan players does us no good, either financially or team building wise. I think one of the reasons the wage bill last year was still so high, was probably due to both the wages and loan fees we were paying for all our loanees. I think it will be high this year too. I think we got all these loan players to appease Wilder and it's been an expensive mistake. Let's hope we can send both Muniz and Mowatt back and Luongo's short term deal expires.

Ideally in January I'd hope Fulham and West Brom could recall or us give back Muniz and Mowatt. I think I'd be more than happy with Akpom, Forss, Watmore and Hoppe till next summer if I'm honest. At that point Coburn will be back with a full season under his belt.
I can see Zidan Iqbal coming in and replacing Mowatt though.

On Coburn, he seems to be doing great at Bristol Rovers. All the coaching staff and players talk highly of him and his stats are pretty good, as well as his game time. I saw one article over the weekend, where Barton called him one of the best strikers in the division, and potential future England player (maybe Kane's long term replacement). Also likened some of his play and physicality to a certain Zlatan! If he turns out either half as good as Kane or Zlatan, we are on to a winner. Either way, next year, he could definitely be our main striker or certainly challenging for that role.

Pointless him being here. Pointless for everyone concerned.

He's way down the pecking order and Forrs isn't exactly rattling them in. I assume his work ethic is better. Same with Dunc.

I think Carrick will be looking for a replacement in Jan.
