Mr Lath looks like a goal scorer like

But no one's saying he's a striker are they? He had to play there when we had no one else but that's not his position.
He's already proven that he can create chances though as an attacking midfielder.
He’s being held to account by Carrick saying he sees him long term as a CF, people are now judging him entirely on goal output, which isn't a fair way to look at him as a 10. He’s created 8 clear chances in 3 matches as a 10

Personally I think the forward line is ok.

We need to sort the defence out. We are not hard to score against. A proper CB to partner lenihan and a proper RB is needed. If we can get a combative midfielder in as well that will be great.
Absolutely agree. We need someone at CM who is an intelligent, physical and quick player out of possession. A better RB and a big brute CB

Not for me, not far off but he’s still a downgrade:
Steffan was imo a very average keeper with a very poor save to shot ratio, I was nervous every time a cross went near him and his dithering about with the ball at is feet was a joke, he cannot have inspired much confidence in his back four

pretty much everything - his positioning is better - his closing down angles is better - his blocking is better - his shot stopping is better - his kicking is better - his ability to get into the corners of the goal is better (thats cos of his positional sense) - his understanding and anticipation is better - his concentration levels are better.

his communication and organising the defence is better,

Dieng is a OK goalie at the championship level, but he is no Steffen

Would Dieng be in the top 6 goalies this season ? - i dont think so - Steffen was top 3 goalie last season, certainly better than the Burnley , Sheff Utd and Luton keepers.
Top 3 goalie, by what metric was he top 3 goalie, beaten at the near post on numerous occasions, very poor shot to save ratio, way below average keeper !
