He's improved massively under Carrick. Only weeks ago people were still calling for him to be removed from the bench to make way for Muniz.

I didn’t rate him at all when wilder was here. But since he came on in the Norwich game he hasn’t really put a foot wrong. Worthy stand in for howson.

Hes changed from being a square peg in a round hole to an accomplished, better polished, fitter and mentally attuned to play the best football of his life. The transformation under Carrick has been amazing. He will never be a Michael Carrick or a Bobby Charlton, but he`s more than capable now. Whatever Carrick gives to these players - I want some.

Well he did complete a full pre-season and played against us on the opening day, so I don't think that can be given as a reason for his poor form. I think the midfield in general suffered from a lack of pace and inventiveness missing due to the sale of Tavernier. The emergence of Hackney and change of system rectified this.

He's massively improved. I would see him as a longer term option to Howson. That said he's on a few quid at WBA so maybe an issue.

I can see Watford as a possibility. His old Barnsley and WBA gaffer has just taken over.

There was a time where I didnt think he was fitting in well to our team. Clearly a good player but was just under performing. I think Wilder used him in the wrong position in a system that didnt suit him.
Under Carrick he's been excellent though and I'm more than happy to see him fitting in for Howson.
As roofie said, I want some of what Carrick is giving to these players. I would argue that every single one of them has improved since the beginning of his tenure.

He's playing in a two man midfield, it's why Howson is looking better than previously too. Their game isn't suited to packing the centre of the pitch, they need space and mobile players around them.

I like Mowatt. Thought he was an excellent signing.....but it never worked for him. With the emergence of Hackney thought we would never see him in a Boro shirt again. But fair play to him, given an opportunity and grasped it with both hands.

Being extremely harsh to him and Howson, a player with pace and physical presence will be needed if we really want to kick on - whether that be PL or Championship.

Not sure we can keep him and Howson as backup CMs......and Howson isn't going anywhere so.....

Hmm…he’s neat and tidy but we are less dynamic when he plays. No way we should be looking to sign him next season but he will get a club no problem.
