Most valuable player ?

It’s been creeping in for a good while… “offence” and “de-fence” is common in commentary and I see “off-season” frequently in writing, among others. Not sure why as footy has more than enough jargon of its own to need Americanisms.
 
“Quarterback role” was popular a few years ago to describe a deep midfielder who can make long passes forward, thankfully not heard it for a while now.
 
Yes false 9 is a tactical thing nothing todo with America.

But all this MVP guff when we already had player of the season or man of the match.
