We have won fair number of appeals over the last few years - some seemed quite dodgy. It is almost as if the FA feel guilty about a 'frivolous' appeal from a certain Liverpool game! I know it was a long time ago - but I just can't let it lie

Me either. The 'frivolous' decision was a joke.

I think it has to be a peno really. Without it hitting Morsy's arm they score. (I know it wasn't intentional, but I think they have to be awarded the pen).

That's why I replied in a different thread that 'technically' it was a pen. Whatever happened to accidental hand ball.

It’s good that it’s been overturned but it could have cost us the match, like the double hit penalty.

In tight games these things make a huge difference and yet if we had ended up getting beat on the back of bad decisions there would be some on here saying we were just making excuses.

We won despite the poor decision.. which is something we need to be able to do. How many matches have we blamed poor referees for losing games? Fact of the matter is the champs is full of poor referees. First time I’ve seen a biro manager acknowledge this and coach his players accordingly.

Good point, that closes down any more excuses for losing matches due to poor refereeing decisions, the players weren‘t good enough to persuade the ref/linesman to change their decision.

I will look out for that one.

It not like we get different referees to the rest of the league. It’s another part of the game that needs to be considered by managers. Karanka understood it.. I don’t think he managed to get that over to his players as well as Warnock.

Personally I think the refs should shape up better or we should have VAR in the championship.

Easier said than done. VAR seems to have caused just as many problems as it was meant to meant to solve.

I think VAR is ok but I would do it like cricket where the captain has to ask for a review and is only allowed to get one wrong per half.

I think the appeal body overturned the dismissal as, in their view, it didn't meet the 'denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity' criteria i.e. the stated grounds for dismissal. I'm not sure if they expressed a view on the penalty. Is there a published, written account of why the verdict was reached?

One of the exception in the new rule is " If a player is falling and their arm is between them and the ground for support" it is not a penalty

No thank you. Var is the worst thing to happen to football as a spectator sport in its entire history. It also causes far more controversy and confusion than it prevents.
