Many of our fans felt 8m up front was a bit low for a player who'd scored 2 league goals in January.

I don't think Plymouth are under any financial pressure. I cannot imagine they'd demand less than that for a player who's scored 19, and probably quite a bit more.

Apparently they bid 15 million for clarke in January, no idea how much was upfront. Guessing at 7 or 8 million was what they offered for Whittaker, again probably not much upfront.
 
19 goals and 8 assists, he has more goal contributions than our entire attacking midfield put together, but of course he is *****
 
I don't think any champo side will be signing him after the season he's had. Unless it's one of the relegated ones.

He has been superb. Yet very much in the Waghorn bracket. He's had one good season in his career. Although it's a relatively short one.

He was sold for pennies by Swansea where he didn't do much in 33 appearances. He's had a terrific season. Yet a gamble to suggest he will replicate it next season.

Yet he's still only 23. So maybe this him just showing how good he is. I imagine he is Plymouths Rogers. They will cash in and make a big profit. A great bit of business (like Rogers and Rav).

I do like Sorba Thomas and would be happy if we got him .4 goals 9 assists.
Another option who DOES score goals is
Pavel Sulc AM at V Plsen who has 18 goals 5 assists £3-4m?
Callum O'hare Cov may have bigger suitors on a free , but I would do everything possible to get him . 9 goals 4 assists.
Illias Chair may be available due to issues ? 5 goals 6 assists .£6m or a swap for Mcgree or Forss. ( hope they stay but rumours they won't )
Harvey Knibbs is the bargain at £1m -£1.5m , 15 goals 6 assists .and
Danny Armstrong RM AM £700k - £1m 9 goals 14 assists.
Tyrese Dolan is another option , only 5 goal scored 3 assists but at age 22 room to improve .
Femi Azeez on a free - RW AM 8 goals 7 assists
Yuito Suzuki ,Matheus Kvistgaarden and Franculino are worth considering but may take time to adjust .
