Missed Points/Opportunities

Looking back in hindsight is a funny thing but here's results that have really screwed us this season

Boro 2-3 QPR - Lumley's mistake for their winner, not going for it when they went down to 10 men
Boro 1-2 Blackpool - To be leading at home then throw it away against a newly promoted side?!
Reading 1-0 Boro - Just how?
Hull 2-0 Boro - Dire
Boro 0-2 Birmingham - Good god dire
Boro 1-2 Preston - Threw it away against a terribly out of form side after leading
QPR 2-2 Boro - Lumley's Mistake (Again)
Bristol City 2-1 Boro - How?
Barnsley 3-2 Boro - Truly shocking afternoon
Sheffield United 4-1 Boro - Abysmal night
Boro 0-1 Fulham - Didn't take our chances
Boro 0-1 Hull - Looked devoid of ideas, Lumley mistake (Again)
Boro 0-2 Huddersfield - Just looked hopeless
Swansea 1-1 Boro - Conceded straight after scoring, Connolly missed a sitter

That's 14 games we should have been A) Expecting to win or B) Have played well enough but messed up
I'd say we should be at least 15 points better off but for our absolute ineptitude.
These teams didn't batter us, we imploded, we looked devoid of ideas and we threw away leads against must lesser sides and it's hurt us

Let’s do this next week when we know our destiny for certain. To early for this.
Oh I'm still sitting on the optimistic side thinking Mitrovic is gonna say sorry for turning us down by spanking in a hat trick against Sheffield United next week.

I just thinking when you look back, our results have just been baffling really haven't they?

Most teams in the division could probably do exactly the same. We have been unlucky at times but it generally evens out over a season.

Why bias it,? Can you list all the games we were fortunate to win, pick up points aswell when we shouldn't have or na?

Over the season even since CW arrived, do we REALLY believe we've been good enough to be a top 6 side?

We might still do it, but we've been too inconsistent on the whole and have been crying out for a goalscoring forward.

The table since he took over would still indicate we have been since he arrived.

Over the full season, probably not, but we only won 35% of our games under Warnock whilst losing 41%.
Under Wilder, even after our dire last month, it's been a 48% win rate and 29% loss rate.

I cant genuinely recall a game where we were lucky to pick up 3 points or even a point for that matter. Maybe Swansea at home we were fortunate to win but the luck we had was mainly in the Cup.

I get that, but I see this season a little bit like the Pulis season, when we missed out on goal difference (IIRC). We were there or thereabouts, but I never really felt we looked like a team that could clinch promotion.

Conversely I though we under under AK, when we lost at Wembley.

It's fine margins I know, but we aren't close enough to be a complete team yet, hopefully they prove me wrong, but if not I do think we'll be closer to a 'top 6' team next season.

Coventry at home springs to mind - they should have took at least a point

Connolly & lumley are the reason we wont finish in the play-offs. not necessarily their fault but it was clear we needed a keeper in January but we wasted a squad place on connolly who never, ever looked at the races.
We had josh coburn and sol brynn - i cannot believe that it wasnt worth giving those two a chance ahead of the other two.

bringing in squad players from the prem is getting on my t1ts now. I would much rather spend some money on lower league players like bola, crooks, Dijksteel, uche than waste money on pampered, over-paid, arrogant premier league squad players who turn out to be a waste of skin. we get them for a year, if theyre good, theyre never seen again, if theyre shyte, as most seem to be, then we are lumbered with them.
it seems to me that young players feel theyve made it by just making up the numbers at a prem club when theyve never done a thing. far too big for their boots, far, far too much money and not enough humility and willingness to get down and get the graft done - those that do obviously go on to do well.

connolly and balogun have added nothing to our attacking, in my opinion. and we wasted far, far too long in trying to get them up to speed in matches when they should have been made to make the hard yards in the U23s.
there is obviously some pressure or commitment to play these players if loaned in form the prem when they are clearly short of fitness and/or sharpness.

Every teams fans will have what ifs and maybe’s. We were lucky in some games too. Swansea and Coventry at home were games I thought we were second best, arguably Reading too. The truth is if we make it we deserve it, if we don’t we won’t.

You could go right back until August.. I imagine all fans can.

Yet its the last month that's fecked us and more relivent. Coburn has to score against Fulham in the 89th min for 1-1. Then Lumley howler against Hull so would be 0-0. That's 2 points.

The biggest was last week. At 0-1 Tav has to score to make it 0-2. Then they go up the other end and equalise. Them Connally has to score in the last min for 1-2. So you can go back to Barnsley etc. Yet really had we just converted those two chances against Swansea we would be in the box seat (kinda).
