Mike Ashley evicting Coventry City

Appalling. Coventry City would have bought back their own stadium if Ashley's group had not been allowed to manoeuvre into preferred position.
There is a garden of remembrance at the stadium with Coventry fans ashes scattered. Ashley is following on from the hedge funders in having absolutely no respect whatsoever for peoples lives and deaths.

What one earth!?!?! He really does know how to endear himself to football fans doesn't he.

Coventry appear a bit of a car crash behind the scenes given the carry on at the start of the season with the pitch following the Rugby matches.

And Ashley keeps passing the F.A.'s fit and proper persons test for club ownership ....A man that has obviously NO interest in any club or fan. Just how much he can make !!!!

Probably haven't been paying the landlord because Wasps had not fufilled their part of the contract at the start of the season by having the pitch in playing condition, Coventry would have lost a fair amount of money by playing at Burton. This will be fought out between lawyers because Ashley says he does not have obligations but Coventry says he does.

Not sure how a fit and proper person test can do much more than vouch that they've never been bankrupt and have the money they say they have. It can't make personal judgements on the character of a person, or ensure they make spending decisions. Besides Ashley has only had to pass that test once, when he bought Newcastle and that was 15 years ago, he didn't need to pass anything to buy the stadium.

What will Coverntry do if he follows through and evicts them mid-season? A club is supposed to play all home games at the same stadium, that's the rules these days.

Is Mike the baddie here? Why are Coventry getting sympathy and Derby got pelters?

I doubt he's doing this to be a knob? I assume that they've got a binding agreement to pay x amount and they're not as they don't want to or can't afford it?

If they have to sell to break even, it could well benefit us.

End of the day, they are in this situation after years of mismanagement has led them to not own their own stadium. I said it with Derby, not owning your stadium could be terminal for a club it's your key asset.

And they could have sold two players and got twenty million in most likely in the summer transfer window to put them on a really good financial footing, but chose not to do that.

Doug King, who is awaiting English Football League (EFL) approval to complete a deal for a 85 per cent majority stake in Coventry City, had also attempted to buy the CBS Arena.

However, a court ruled that King’s UK£25 million bid had come too late, meaning that the Fraser Group, originally Sports Direct, was able to acquire the venue with a UK£17 million offer.

In order to secure the CBS Arena, Fraser Group purchased the stadium’s three operating companies – Coventry Limited, Arena Coventry Limited and IEC Experience Limited – in deals facilitated by FRP Advisory.

Well my point was that it's years of mismanagement, rather than the developments of the last few weeks.

If the Fraser Group didn't get an offer intime, that's further mismanagement. I suspect this will end up with Ashley selling to Fraser group and doubling his money, leaving Coventry needing to sell players to recoup that extra unplanned investment.
