Middlesbrough top final average Championship away attendance.

Unfortunately, brilliant away support does not equate to brilliant away points. The ultimate aim is to get promoted not to be the best away supported.
It's kudos, I take it every time, as a Boro fan I have certainly been looked down by fans of other clubs including Forest fans who have mocked our away support, I don't know why they are no great shakes. Your right it doesn't get us promoted but if the playing side is right next season then we can be the 12th Man on the road and transmit energy to the team to push on for results.

Yes, it only gets near 500k if you include Hartelpool as part of Teesside. Don't think Hartlepool contains many Boro fans . If they don't support Pools they support Sunderland.
We've had alot of posts over the last 20 years on catchment areas. To me its Middlesbrough Borough Council area, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton council area, plus Great Ayton, Stokesley, NY villages to the A19 - after that its mainly Teessiders who have moved to places like Whitby, Northallerton, Richmond, Darlington, Sedgefield.

Middlesbrough has always been an town associated with heavy industry, no matter how its dressed up, not a place regularly visited by most North Yorkshire folk or County Durham people (current boundaries). It was also developed with very much immigrant social mix in the 1850-1900 period. Which helped develop a stronger bond of the local people, but the opposite with the hinterlands say rural towns of NY.

Quality of the squad and team on the pitch and its application is what matters most to me. Our game against Chelsea was a good example. Small away support not much noise from them neither. But they won 2-0. Their squad and team had 20 times the money invested in it as ours. Thats an awful big mountain to move for Boro fans.

Our support to me has given the team a relative boost over some other teams, but it can only be marginal.
