Isiah Cornet is the latest exciting young academy talent that Middlesbrough have tied up to a new contract.

Cornet, an 18-year-old midfielder from France, has signed his first professional contract with the Boro after an impressive season with the under-23s during the third year of his scholarship deal.

Able to play in central midfield or in a more advanced role behind the striker, Cornet has been a regular for Graeme Lee's under-23s this season - catching the eye with some bright, energetic and positive displays.

He signs his first pro deal at having first moved to Teesside in 2018 following a successful trial at the club.

He is a product of French amateur club US Torcy who count Manchester United star Paul Pogba among their alumni.

After a strong season for the under-23s that saw Lee's side narrowly miss out on a play-off place, Cornet is the latest bright prospect to commit his immediate future to the club, following in the footsteps of the likes of Jack Robinson, Josh Coburn, Isaiah Jones, Josh Wells and Zach Hemming who've signed new deals in recent months.

Anyone watched this lad in U23s, any good? Speaking of hair I was a little disappointed when Brahimi left, the glimpses i saw of him showed some talent.
his hair had peaked unfortunately, dry with split ends. he needed some sort of hot oil treatment by the time he had left.

shame really. great potential

I'd only heard of him before because I was checking Livescore a few weeks ago when we were playing, it said that he had scored for us, I was completely confused but apparently they somehow got him mixed up with Fletcher.

Reminds me of Bilal Brahimi, attacking midfielder / winger, french, mad hair, came over to Boro as a teen.

Hopefully he seems a little more happy to be here.

On the topic of Brahimi 21 year old been on loan in the french third division and scored 12 goals and 10 assists....wish we could have kept him, could have been useful in the side this season.

he's always free to come back and play better for less money

Not seen anything in terms of the length of contract which is surprising

Really hope it’s not a 1 year deal as I think he has a lot of potential

Wouldn't call him exciting. He's a tidy player, good in possession, good passer, keeps it simple. But not pacy. More like a dorriva type from what I've seen.

Looking at some of the the names that crop up with the our youth teams looks like we’ve dispensed with YouTube and are trawling the bible for future talent!
