Middlesbrough officially named by central govt as an area of concern.

Wasn’t herd immunity ( the giver initial
Strategy) proven to be complete bollox though , as e now know you can catch this twice so any immunity seems to be short lived.

herd immunity is one word for it a cull would be closer to reality. Look at the care home scenario to see the Bleak reality.

That is right, everyone is wearing masks - and has been for some months. When they lock down, they lock down. Bars are closed again at present and restaurants have a curfew.
Am concerned about what a lockdown might mean here in Middlesbrough - for people and businesses. For football and for daily life.

Thing is, too, how many times do you lock down? The numbers lessen, you open up again, you get people moving around, a second, third wave, you lock down again, again and again. I certainly don't have the answers but locking down towns and cities and trying to have an economy at the same time; just can't work. You can't have both.

In Hong Kong they have locked down hard twice and it has driven down covid cases to practically nil both times. They are then able to reopen with confidence again because people and businesses are taking far more precautions.
It could happen to them again and that is so damaging but short, sharp shocks have worked.

And also, without being facetious, they now have police force who won't mess about. When they enforce something, they really enforce it. I'm just not convinced that people here will stay in their homes and follow the rules. As I've said on many occasions on this forum, my neighbours, every day during lockdown, had people round; parties, get togethers, etc. Every damn day!

Zero leadership from the very top in this country hasn’t helped either. The whole thing has been a complete fudge.

Zero leadership and a lack of clarity coupled with a selfish population. A second lockdown will hit Middlesbrough hard and many people and businesses will suffer. I find it terribly sad and frustrating that so many in our town are still behaving so irresponsibly.

Absolutely no surprise to me.

Was in Food Warehouse in Portrack yesterday and there was nil social distancing whatsoever. Some blond woman with her partner and brood couldn't have got any closer to me in the queue if she had tried.
And it wasn't just them, it was everyone...nobody gave a thought to at least leaving a little room. My wife ended up standing outside as she didn't feel safe (she's a care worker).
It's like it's never happened to many, many folk. It's something that happens to other people.

This is so true. I rarely see social distancing now if I'm walking down a street, in a shop, whatever. I guess it won't happen to them, right?!
