A newly formed Middlesbrough Mela Committee has been set up recently and is quick to start planning next year's event.

No sooner has this year's Mela season come to an end, than the team are looking forward to next year's event being bigger and better than ever before.

Now they're reaching out to the local community to help them shape the look and feel of next year's Mela.

People from across the Tees Valley are invited to an open forum focus group on Saturday, October 9 from 2pm at the Dorman Museum on Linthorpe Road,

Mela Chair Kash Patel said: "The purpose of the forum is to seek people's views of how the Mela should be developed and what they would like to see in the future.

"As the voice of the community, the Mela committee believe it's important to engage with the people they represent by providing them the opportunity to have their say.

"This is the perfect opportunity for friends of the Mela to drop by, meet the team and let them know what they think.

"Who knows - their ideas may even be transformed into reality at next summer's event."

  • For those unable to attend the open forum at the Dorman Museu can simply complete a short survey on the Mela Facebook page.
