Middlesbrough fighting it out with Cardiff to sign Wigan striker Kieffer Moore with the Wales international having already turned down offers from QPR and Millwall

Extract:
Middlesbrough are battling it out with Cardiff City for Wigan Athletic striker Kieffer Moore.
The Wales international, who turned 28 on Saturday, is the subject of bids from both clubs and is taking time to consider his decision following the Latics' relegation to League One.
Moore - who scored 10 goals in the Championship last season - has turned down offers from QPR and Millwall who were also interested.

Decisions!
Decisions!
I hope he gives Neil the nod and rocks up on Monday or Tuesday.

Would be pleased with this signing if it happened.

Glad he's not actually Welsh, except via a single grandparent, as I feel that the Cardiff factor would have been a big draw if he was.

I wish we could find another Wilko👍

I read (not that it means anything) that he fancies Cardiff due to Welsh exposure for international team.

That said throw in 2k more a week and footballers don't mess about😂

He's had a decent couple of years. He's clearly a handful and from the few occasions I saw him on TV he's decent with his feet.

Another great link for what we are looking for. Just need a couple of these to actually get over the line and it's time to start dreaming

I admit I know little about him.

From comments on this and other threads etc. I'm assuming he's a big lad who'll hold the ball up, win headers and who can play a bit on the deck too. Is that about right?

His goal record is fairly modest so assume it's all about him being able to bring others into play and just make his team more of a threat rather than being an out an out goal threat himself?

Thats about it really. NW likes a strapping front man as you know, someone who can hold the ball up and bring others into play he likes pace from the wide areas and a box to box runner to support. His 2 favoured systems tend to be 433 or 4231 depending on the squad make up. Moore looks a better bet than the Blackpool lad but i suspect this signing will come down to us paying more than Cardiff in wages if it happens. As he is a Welsh international, that could give Cardiff an edge, but i suspect wages will be the main issue

He did well at Barnsley in league 1 (16 I think) then had a good first season at Wigan. He's 6ft 5 and looks a unit.

I'm not sure how mobile he is? He seemed to score more with his feet as with his head. He's clearly a Warnock No9. Then you have widemen and CMs getting around him.

I actually imagine Hugill would have very much been the main man for NW. You can have a big No9 with no player within 40yrds.

I actually think he got the best out of Fletcher and Britt. I'm not sure 2 up top is his thing.

It's definitely going to be a massive change in style and personal if he gets who he wants👍

Still has to be a big draw surely?

Can't see why.
He's got no link to Wales beyond a Grandad, and 5 international appearances, and he was already getting picked for them on the basis of what he did in League One.
Cardiff or Middlesbrough, he's going to be picked for Wales.

I'd rather go for Hugill - he scored 15 goals in 41 appearances last season and he is big and strong too. WHU will be keen to let go.

yes i think hugill would be a good fit for warnocks team, and you wouldnt need to persuade him to come too,,he would probs sign first, then discuss terms:):)

Wages though, Moore is going to be on around 8-10 k Hugill is on 40k a week, we and QPR were paying about 16k of that for the season long loans. He might come down abit but won’t be dropping 60-70% off his pay.

Going only by descriptions on here, Moore would be same as Hugill, but without the certainty that he will settle on Teesside.
People can't get that goals are scored by teams, not individuals.

Same story repeated this morning across various platforms.
Hope we get the right answer tomorrow.
Could be a few arrivals at Rockcliffe this week.
Getting closer to preseason - not long to get the team together.
