Middlesbrough - 31st worst place to live in England

Sick of these stories, other month middlesbrough was one of happiest places to live so who do you believe. i currently live down south and its not a utopian paradise either, i actually think its made me appreciate home even more.

How can anyone take this seriously? York and Chichester in there, both pretty desirable places to live. Has no credibility at all with these two listed

As a rule of thumb if you have enough mooney to live in a nice area of a town/city it will likely be a decent enough place to live. If you don't then it might not. These stories are just tedious.

Not sure what their point about the river is, it certainly is filthy
I suggest you go along to the seal viewpoint at Greatham Creek - and as you walk from the car park you can read the story about how the seal comeback on the Tees has been the most successful revival of a colony in Britain. Sadly, the closure of industry is a large driver of this but also an incredible clean up effort in the river.

It's a daft poll based on internet votes, nothing more - people will see it as a game to get their town to number 1.

The fact that Peterborough is number 1 is laughable and shows how daft it is.

There isn't even a full list of places to vote for. The 2022 vote 'is now open' and it's a pretty small list. Bit like saying which is the best UK politician and only giving you a choice of Bozo, Reece-Smog and Liz Trustworthy

I'm not sure how smart it is for the Evening Gazette to defend Middlesbrough by showing lots of places that aren't Middlesbrough. It suggests that there isn't much worth showing in Middlesbrough and that the poll might be right all along.

As it is, I don't know who would be influenced by something that is clearly just an exercise in generating hit clicks.

I was thinking this. York next to Southampton? Having spent a lot of time in both of these places they aren’t in the same league. York should be nowhere near this list. Also Doncaster is too low

Exactly this. I have an old work colleague who lives in very posh Richmond on Thames. Where she lives is an absolute sh..hole.

I would agree with that. I always had the impression that Rotherham was not a great place. Yet I was driving though it the other week and it seemed lovely, some nice looking parks and big houses. Must have gone through the nice part of town.
