Mid week things to do in london

Going to london in a couple of weeks for a mid week trip for two nights and looking for something to do, casual dining and drinking options - nothing swanky. I normally stay covent garden, leicester square but have opted for south of the river near London Bridge this time. Any of the diaspora hot any recommendations?

London Bridge an excellent place.
Borough Market is worth a visit for the excellent street food if nothing else.
Check out katzenjammers cellar bar a German themed pub with blondes wearing pig tails and lederhosen. Serving steiners of dortmunder and plates of bratwurst.
Old street, on the northern line, is another favourite street food market where you can buy food and take it into the pubs as long as you buy a drink..
Greenwich worth a visit too.
And Ronny Scott's jazz club in soho. Watch the house band it's cheaper and they play on later into the early hours.
Enjoy

Katzenjammers has been on my list for years but ive hardly ever ventured south and noted happily its near my digs. Please tell me the Ladies are in drindls 😍 not lederhosen!

Borough market was also on my list, had a quick walk through before but will spend longer there this time. Theres loads that looks good, gonna try and go by hays galleria and over to the queen of hoxton too. Shame no mid week matches on

Ronnie scotts would be really cool too, another one on the long standing to do list. Mid week was a mistake and hotel was @30% more but its booked now.

Thanks again

So confused - like bites to eat? Or bites lile im trolling by asking for recs for mid week things to do in london. Who would my target audience be?

Do you know any good placed for casual eats or drink in london or not? Ive seen that theres a dickens inn near st katherine dock and the prospect of whitby further east looks like a good port of call but lots of ground to cover

Thought you were on nights ?

I wonder if i could get AI to plan my a route of London pubs - west to east along the north bank-ish one day and the opposite journey on the south bank the next day. Say 8 - 10 hours drinking/walking, a pint on average every 40
Minutes - thats still 15 pints and probably average £8 a pint down there now? £120 before food 😬 two days running. Just thinking out loud. Anyone done out like that before, Thames pub crawl i mean

They were from memory leather shorts/ dungaree things, sorry to disappoint.
The barrow boy and banker pub on London Bridge itself serves the best pies in London.

Dreams crushed right there. Ill google see if theres any other places that tock that box now.

Thanks, ill be getting food on the go - once im out im out for the day

The George Inn is an old boozer in London Bridge which is worth a visit. El Pastor in Borough Market for decent Mexican. You could also venture over to the Bermondsey beer mile.

Further south - Brixton Village is quite fun for an evening and still pretty busy midweek, loads of food/drink options.

City of London should be penned in for future visits. The area around Spitalfields is unrecogniseable from the days when I worked in the City. It is pretty much jumping as a midweek spot. As for South of the river the Portuguese restaurant Caso do Frago in Borough Market is fantastic.

I like St Katherine's docks but as I recall the last time I went the dickens was really pricey, even for london. Nice area though

Thanks. Is spitalfields close to Liverpool street/bishopsgate? Hard to tell properly on a map. Plan is south of the river on the day i get there then next morning borough market then cross over toward liverpool street bishopsgate and that sort if area but not shoreditch which ive been to and thought whats the fuss. Hackney Wick looked alright but too far out

The best possible thing you can do midweek is to go on a guided walk for a couple of hours via www.walks.com

Every day, a range of different and interesting walks that take you to places you wouldn't normally go. Absolute bargain at £15

I've been living here 16 years now and I still go on these even I have a day off

Is it right be tower bridge? I was that way before but didnt know the dickens inn was that close at the time. Id likely only have one as theres too many places i want to check out and sone quite scatteted like prospect if whitby. I like pubs by the river like terry n arfur used to go in on minder

It's not far, but it is on the other side of the docks from the entrance. Seems a surprisingly long walk when you're gagging for a drink!
