What a surprise. We are being right royally screwed

I assume that is not Bozo Barnier to whom you refer Funky, but perhaps it should be, because it has been plainly obvious since EU attack dog Barnier has been in charge of their negotiations, nothing will ever be achieved.
With his stated aims of keeping the UK obeying Brussels laws and rules, in addition to maintaining the 80% of fish that the 27 countries extract from our waters, there never will be any agreement.🤔

Remember, we hold all the cards...

Oh and lotto old boy, do some reading on the Fishing thing. To call it a "red herring" would be hilarious if it wasn't the perfect illustration of where listening to people chanting meaningless slogans and lies had got us.

Lottowyn, that is a load of rubbish. The talks have stalled because the UK is asking for stuff that the EU cannot deliver. We are asking for terms tha even the USA don't have. If the EU agreed to our terms, they would have to do the same for other economies, and that is not sustainable and would result in the break up of the EU trading block.

No deal Brexit has always been Johnson's goal as is demonstrated by his re-writting of the brexit bill and the agricultural bill. The electorate have been had by Johnson.

Very hard to blame the other side for "nothing being achieved" if we don't turn up for the negotiations. You have an oddly skewed view of the world.

Oh don’t get me started on the agriculture bill 😩 they’re so devious this lot, they lie and deflect their way through everything. Gove only a few months ago “we will not be importing chlorinated chicken” now suddenly it’s on the table for negotiations - twáts !

The deal was never that difficult, Johnson is playing a game. He wants workers rights reduced to a minimum to allow big business to take advantage. This was the whole reason for re-writing the brexit bill. He promised the electorate that workers rights and food standards would be at least as robust as EU law, then immediately he had a big enough majority, he ignored the covenant with the electorate to screw us over so he and his pals could get a bit richer.

Spot on. The final piece in their plan is to try and blame the EU for a breakdown in negotiations and then no deal. Having said that I think they're such brazen ****s they're not even bothered if that can be achieved.

Johnson got elected on the basis he had an ‘oven ready deal’
I’m just wondering whether he was telling us the truth.......

It's very easy on this board to court popularity. Just be anti government and talk Brexit down.
If you quote any of Boris Johnson's ridiculous "merry quips" as a basis for an argument then so be it.

The facts are that the people voted in the GE by a fairly big majority for the Tories to implement Brexit and they have done it.
Barnier is desperate not to concede anything and if he forces us into a so called "no deal" he will be responsible. The fact that 80% of the fish caught in the UK waters are by the 27 countries of the EU (probably by about 3 countries really) is a fact. When Barnier wants this to remain the same, he is forcing a no deal. For fishing that is brilliant for us and a disaster really for Brussels. As he seems as dogmatic about his other demands, Barnier is not negotiating, but just demanding. Any British PM worth his salt would give Barnier a boot up the derrière.

Sorry, came to this thread to try and learn something, but it’s just the same posters talking to themselves about how useless the government are.

What sort of things would you like to learn, Otto?
