Michael Gove

It looks like he is going through stuff and shouldn't be a cabinet minister just now.

His marriage recently came to an end.

He loves to dance. In Aberdeen.

I wouldn't **** on him if he was on fire. But yes, seems to be an obvious welfare issue here.

Something the Johnson cabinet will care about or do anything about? I seriously doubt it.

Pretty sure they'll follow through on promoting him to foreign secretary regardless if that's what the plan was. Mind, even a coked up, mid life crisis Gove has got to be more capable than the previous two incumbents.

Maybe we should aim a little higher with our representative choices.

I do. Unfortunately too many of the electorate seem happy with this shower.

Just to clarify, I don't think Gove in any way, shape or form is fit for office. But he does have a modicum of weasel type intelligence/cunning which puts him slightly above empty vessels like Raab or buffoons like Johnson. It's a very low bar though.

And he isn't lazy unlike slackers like Johnson.

Mind you, given his odious politics, that can be regrettable for the rest of us. It's that old problem, when it comes to bad policies, is it better to have a lazy incompetent implement it, or a hard working, intelligent individual make sure it gets done?

I've always said laziness is Johnson's one saving grace. To be a properly, driven right wing bas**rd requires a lot of energy and dedication - qualities which, thankfully, he sorely lacks.

Part of the conundrum is during a crisis like covid or brexit (albeit a crisis of their own making) you want hard working competence regardless of their politics. Probably.

But as you say, when it comes to following through on their "let's **** on the poorest" policies, you want lazy incompetents.

That said I'm not even sure Gove is that competent. Certainly not as clever as he thinks he is. But compared to the rest of the cabinet he's Stephen Hawking.

Very similar dance moves

That's a description of Thatcher.

Given lots of the current governments success is down to promoting a message of "we're like you, not like those privileged Labour Islington metropolitan elite", I'm not sure it'll have that much of a negative impact on the general electorate.

You'll have people posting rubbish like "LAD" or "He deserves to let off some steam with his high pressure job". I imagine something like Starmer getting caught coming out of the National Ballet would have a much more negative effect.

I do like the Islington Metropolitan Elite jibe. It's often used to describe lawyers that the government don't like. Johnson was of course living with one of these Islington Elite Lawyers until she kicked his fat behind out.

Starmer getting caught doing exactly the same thing would have a much more negative effect.
