Michael Carrick: Every Picture Tells A Story

Michael Carrick`s football career surpasses any other Manager we have ever had by a country mile. He may be at the beginning of his Managerial career - but we cant ignore his achievements which rank him amongst the biggest players in the world game.

* 34 Senior games for England
* 5 Premier League Winners Medals
* F.A Cup
* 2 Football League Cups
* 6 Community Shields
* UEFA Champions League Winners Medal
* UEFA Europa League Medal
* World Club Champions Medal

He only retired 4 years ago and many of his games are within reach of current memory. Particularly, he will be remembered by younger fans, because he is only 41 and been in front of the cameras in big games over his career. His last medal was the Europa League win in 2016.

That doesnt make him a great Manager - but it says a great deal about him as a person, who can absorb and overcome immense pressure and still perform at the highest level.
His reading of other players games, styles of play, adapting to other Managers strategy and tactics and his own abilities - say much about the man.

His calm and measured approach is already filtering through to our players and clearly effecting our game style and play. As a club, as well as our players, there is so much to learn from Michael Carrick. He claimed in his Bristol City Media Conference that "its not about me. Its about the players" - we get his point, but what we have seen [so far] is how his experience and professionalism is pushing the players forward and working as an effective team.

I`ve collated some pictures of moments in Michael Carrick`s career - in no particular order - which dont need sub-text and tell a story in themselves. I hope you find them interesting.

Yes, everything's fine. The wrong side of 70 now but still making the matches - six in the bus on Saturday..
Hope you're OK, enjoy your posts. I read the board several times a day but only make the odd post.

Carrick is well loved by United fans now but I remember going to Old Trafford with a mate on a freebie to watch a Champions League match against Valencia in about 2010. He wasn’t popular amongst the fans around me. My guess is that their affection for him grew after that and perhaps even further once Ferguson left and he was seen as a stalwart of Ferguson’s later legacy.

Objectively, he was never United‘s best player in the way Robson was, but he WAS Spurs best player for a season or two before they bought him under Martin Jol, if I recall correctly. I notice you’ve airbrushed the West Ham and Spurs spells of his career out of existence above 😁

As would Robbo’s career have been airbrushed if he went to West Ham and Spurs. (y)
Hmm, well in my mind his final season at Spurs was probably the best of his career in that he drove them almost to CL qualification at a time when they weren’t really expected to get anywhere near the CL (way less to than they are now). He was a good player at United but never their star man.
