Michael Caine in Zulu

Pedantry warning

At Rorke's Drift there were only 32 Welshmen present, the regiment was the 24th Regiment of Foot (2nd Warwickshires) if they had sang (which they didn't) they would likely have sang an English folk song probably would have been the regimental song, "The Warwickshire Lad"

More pedantry stuff.

hook far from being the drunk reluctant conscript he’s depicted in the film was in fact a career soldier highly decorated

from IMDb
Private Henry Hook's daughters, who were quite elderly when this movie was released, walked out of the premiere in disgust at his portrayal. His fellow soldiers remembered him as a good soldier who didn't drink alcohol.

Private Hook was from Gloucester - I agree over 50% were English.

Caine based his officer on some public school boy offiecers he had come across when doing his National Service. Caine was proper London working class - fish porter father and char lady mum.

If anyone comes down to South Wales - there is good displays @ Cardiff Castle and in the South Wales Borderers Museum in Brecon.

Quote from Michael Caine about Jaws 3 "I have never seen the film, but by all accounts it was terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."
