Or if your phone doesn’t have the necessary NFC having to buy a new phone to make your season ticket work. It’s like buying a new TV, finding it won’t work unless you also buy a remote for an extra £150 to make it function.

Correct - but some of those with the correct remote control don't see an issue.

I also think its not just about money - some fans may not want a different phone.

It could be compared with the householders in Redcar that have to take Hydrogen instead of natural gas into their homes. Some people think whats the problem you are getting new equipment for nothing, while others don't want the change.
