I think you are wrong on this, they obviously wouldn't get all the money back, but kids from all over the world love Messi and buy his shirts. Shirts sales would take off in countries who do not normally stock City shirts.

I think a fair proportion of them would by getting Argientina shirts with Messi on, and a fair few would still but "classic" Barcelona shirts.

Possibly they might get their £100 million back, but I'd doubt £250 million.

They're obviously holding out on a transfer fee for negotiation purposes but there is no way they will get anywhere near that figure
