McNair injury

Happened right in front of me, nothing majorly obvious other than a coming together and he really didn't look happy - is there any news on the severity?

Frustrating as he is probably our midfield cover, as well as an important part of the defence..

Could be a big blow if he's missing for any substantial length of time.

Highlights just how insane we were not to bring in another midfielder.

Massimo Luongo apparently coming on trial, but a soon to be 30 year old who's had no pre-season will take a while to get up to speed if we did sign him.

Wasn't he on the verge of signing for Reading?

Yeah, but Reading have severe financial restrictions imposed on them and they're not able quickly get deals done.

It took them weeks to sign Naby Sarr.

They might be above us in the table, but I suspect we can offer a better contract.

The contrarian side of me wonders if McNair's injury might be a blessing in disguise. We're short in a lot of areas, and he's often seen as the default utility man to provide cover all over the place, but he's actually not that suited to any of them. Maybe not having him as the easy switch might help us discover some adaptability in the squad we've avoided looking for.

That's just the contrarian side though. This squad can't really afford any more injuries.

He was walking ok just a bit gingerly so it won’t be long but
he was able to hobble round the pitch so it can't be too bad.
he was walking slowly but looked ok but you never know with until it’s scanned

But I doubt he’ll be at Blackpool

Exactly - Akpom kept playing after his injury, now he's out for weeks. Not all injuries immediately disable you, and carrying on can make them much worse.
