While the 3rd one obviously was a big mistake was he really involved in all 4?
He needs a good / excellent CB alongside him.McNair is a good player for us but he is not a central defender in a 4 man defence for me. Against a very good side that is going to be exposed.
Wouldn't say so. The first, yes although it looked offside; the second was the midfield not closing down, the fourth was the midfield being waltzed through, then Howson ball watching. While the 3rd one obviously was a big mistake was he really involved in all 4?
must be the Wish versionHe's our best player, I've already said paddy Beckenbauer on at least 3 occasions, composure, balance (not today like but we're all human), fantastic player
Its almost as if certain players are beyond criticism the 3 goals were his fault. Hes wrong side of his man in the first, fails to challenge his man on the second allowing a free header and 3rd hes a disaster. Had a good season so up until yesterday.and there I was reading all the posts on this forum, thinking they were all Brits & Savilles fault..........I guess that's why I'm not a sports reporter.
Entire defence looked better as a 3. McNair and Dijksteel were excellent bringing the ball forward and Fry was very comfortable as the central figure.McNair is a good player for us but he is not a central defender in a 4 man defence for me. Against a very good side that is going to be exposed.
Its a shame we have to analyse a match in such detail and look for blame, modern society sucks and the fact we need to point the finger at anyone is pathetic.
We were beaten by the better team, that's all there is to it really! A lot of our fans expectations are way too high.
That's because the defence was bent and Clough knew it.If people don't look at their mistakes they will never improve. Its not just modern society its always happened. Remember Clough after the 6-6 draw at Charlton saying about the defence (something like) "As fast as we were scoring them at one end they were letting them in at the other"
