McNair called into NI Squad

With Saville of course.

Wonder if this means injury isn’t as bad as first hoped. Be great if he’s ok for Saturday but wouldn’t be taking any risks.

He was injured on Tuesday, it's only Thursday morning, they don't play till next Thursday.

They may not have discovered the extent of the injury yet, and he could withdraw before they play.

Hopefully he's fine though.

I agree. I wouldn’t say it’s set in stone it’s good news although I hope it is. Seen it plenty of times where injured players are called up and withdraw

I'd leave him out for Tav. I thought he was poor the other night.

Can’t agree with him being poor, his powerful run for the goal was brilliant. He was also outstanding the game before. Tav is brilliant though and he needs to be in the side too. Decisions, decisions.

If he’s fine for Saturday it’s a tough team to pick as Tav was so good when he came on.

Tav came on for Morsy, can just drop Morsy.

I've liked Morsy lately but he's annoyed me with those off the ball antics.

If McNair's not fit then the problem solves it self.

I was worried by the innocuous way he got injured. If it was an impact you have an idea how bad it is, but when someone pulls up like he did it's usually muscle or ligaments. I wouldn't be surprised if he withdrew from the squad in a couple of days. He might not even of had a scan yet, usually they want any swelling to reduce before they take a look

Yeah that’s the logical thing but I thought if I put that everyone would be on to me again😂. Howson, Tav and McNair has a great balance to it. Definetly worth a try.

First half, when we were being dominated, the game was bypassing him and we were being stretched.

The run for the goal was good and he came into his own before the end but they were stretched and tired by then.

As an attacking midfielder I think Tav offers more. As a defensive midfielder Morsy offers more. McNair's best performances for us have come when he's been part of a back three.

But would you say McNair is better than Morsy as an 8. Howson sitting, Tav and McNair looks a great midfield in my eyes. I think we actually have good options in there now with Saville and Morsy too. Hall and Fry are doing fine at the back. In my opinion you would always find a place for McNair and Tav so Morsy or Howson to lose there place for me but I reckon it will be Morsy.

I haven't seen an awful lot of McNair in midfield for a while. That was the first time I'd seen him there for a long time.

He looked a little too static to me at times, I'm not sure what an 8 is, but if it's an attacking midfielder then you have to still be involved in defence.

Morsy is in to break play up but still created a goal for Mendez Laing at the weekend and gets himself forward.

I'd like to see us play a more attacking game but we haven't yet got the balance to do that.

I know what you mean, but it depends on the game, some games Morsy is a good fit at breaking up the opposition.

Personally I think Tav's best position is in that 10/advance central midfield role that McNair was playing. If he played a full season in that role with a proper striker in front of him he'd get 10 goals and 10 assists.

It's a weird one. The issue is that he is very likely to play all 3 games for Ireland (like last time).

Why the flying f*ck do they need a friendly with the USA in the middle of 2 qualifiers?

Part of my would be 'happy' if was crocked for Millwall and did go away with Ireland. Then fit and fresh for Bournemouth (although I'm sure he wouldn't want that)

Didn't Warnock have a moan (for a change 😉) about the Northern Ireland manager previously for continuing to play McNair in a friendly (or possibly a dead rubber) despite him carrying a knock? So I wouldn't expect them to be doing us any favours even if he is carrying a bit of an injury.
