McGree’s transfer request?

Will McGree be THAT big of a miss?

He's certainly a starter and first teamer, but I don't think he's pulled up many trees since he's been here.

Less than 12 months ago, when we were fighting for the PO's and potential auto's...his space wasn't cemented, due to Aaron Ramsey playing well.

This is the problem with social media. Any idiot can make up a rumour and that rumour then spreads.

Unless it's someone like a journalist with a proven track record it's coming from, chances are it's made up bollox from a sad attention seeker pretending to be ITK.
If I may, kind sir.

It didn’t come from social media it came from someone who just happened to tell me what he heard.
I dont do social media (other than this ) have no idea whether it is in there or not.

I just thought I’d share it on a fans message board.

If you look at my OP and translate that’s into an attention seeker pretending to be in the know.
Then sort yourself out

And, if I have got you wrong, I apologise in advance

He’s a great player for us, one of the first names on the team sheet for me.

He actually switched to the right and dropped Forss when Ramsey came in. He only missed matches when he wasn't fit.

An in-form McGree is by far our best player imo. I do think there has been some sort of fall out behind the scenes with Carrick. I know he's still getting game time but why wouldnt he? Who else would play over him.? I honestly believe Carrick has lost the dressing room I really do. I hope i'm wrong and we push on next season but i'll be surprised if Carrick lasts until Christmas. McGree will almost definitely leave in the summer, he only has 12 months left and unlikely to sign a new deal. He rejected Celtic to push for Prem but we're further from the prem than ever since he signed. I doubt he'd get a move to the Prem now, maybe a year ago he would have but he could get a big move abroad. As another poster said I believe there was a German team sniffing around him so maybe his head was turned, hence Carricks reluctance to play him.
But why do you think there's been a falling out? What evidence is this based on?

Genuinely had to look at your OP again to work out how you'd taken offence! Sorry that you have done but you made it clear it wasn't coming from you and you questioned yourself whether it was legit so never once crossed my mind you were the source.

So just to be clear it was a general point about how easy it is to start these rumours, it certainly wasn't directed at your post because you quite clearly aren't claiming to be ITK!

He goes, he goes. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Great player on his day but has had his spells of being completely underwhelming.

If he wants out and thinks he's bigger than the club.......bye and thanks for the worldies.

We'll survive I'm sure.

Would be another big hole to fill and we've got enough of them already.
I hope Scott has a better summer than last season

McGree 100% won’t be here, Hackney i think would like to stay but the club will sell as that’s what we do with our best players, and Forss is probably on a few clubs radars because of his scoring exploits

I've been expecting these rumours and I'd just like to say for the record that not only will I be sad if he leaves, but I think we should do everything in our power to keep him. We should give him a new improved contract and even make him captain. Why? Because he's a player of personality, McGree can be a leader, potentially for years to come. Look at Morsy and Luongo tearing it up for Ipswich. Ability-wise, they can't lace McGree's boots. Look at Luton - who expected them to give it so much of a go? Average players can be performers if you play to their strengths, give them status and responsibility, What we've lacked in recent years is spirit. McGree has that.

One further thing about McGree. He's really only just back from injury. It takes at least six proper games to get match-fit, up to speed. Expect him to come good soon...

McGree can be decent on his day but if he doesn’t want to be here there is no point keeping him.

This season is turning out to be disappointing so I would be concerned if there was no fallout and we were just sticking with the same squad who are not up to it.

Wouldn't be that big of a miss if his handing in of a request to leave is what has caused some disharmony behind the scenes. I have heard constant things about McGree so there has to be something in it I'd have thought, surprised if not

As said, we made it clear we were pushing for promotion to get him here instead of Celtic, was it??

so can understand his frustration as our form has been brutal over the season, he's bound to be looking to get out. Wouldn't be surprised if we assured him about signings and they didn't happen and he feels we were dishonest in the way we captured him as none of those came to fruition

It's a shame because I liked McGree when he was in the team more and we were doing well. Didn't see him at the time to be the kind to disrupt a good group of lads.

What would be more disappointing is if he is causing bother while he's been out injured along with others who are looking at leaving and it's caused fractions within the group

I don't feel the players are as behind MC as they once were, we're in bad form and that happens with most sides but I always felt MC had a quality about him that helped us avoid such things, less panic more focus

All conjecture for the most part, admittedly, of course .. but something defo hasn't been right for some time now. Disappointing. Whether MC and the hierarchy can remedy this with the 'clear out' everyone is saying will help us .. I just don't have faith we'll do enough in terms of strengthening and I'd be surprised if MC is still here come Xmas

For what it's worth I am not an 'MC out' but in this club, we just appear to go around in circles, I felt when MC first arrived we were finally changing that but it feels like we're going to end up back in familiar territory as it stands. I know we won last night but until that red card, I think the outcome was likely to be different.

See how the players react in the next few games. But I do feel that McGree's situation has been one of the main things bts likely causing a bit of grief

Captain, personality, leader, spirit .. Riley McGree ????? Really not sure where you get any of that from.
Has ability when he can be arsed to show it and has scored the occasional worldie, but generally underwhelming throughout his time here and, as an earlier poster said, gives the impression that he's his own biggest fan.
Mind you I could be completely wrong. He might be a lovely down to earth lad who's delighted to be giving 100% for the shirt every week when his feet don't hurt and he doesn't have to play for Australia.

Yes he'd be a HUGE miss. Yet another creative player being pushed out. Rogers and Crooks both huge misses
