MC Post match interview

Different type of game though. Expected to break a team down or play on the break. Different skills needed
Again, while I agree, it is exactly the same game.

Utilise what you have to carry sufficient threat to (hopefully consistently) trouble the opposition, whilst maintaining enough control at the other end to prevent the opposition creating too many chances.

He seems to have sussed out a way to do this against Leicester, Villa and Chelsea (once), and on plenty of occasions last season, but we don't have those players anymore.

In all the recent home games our shape and player utilisation hasn't worked at all, to get us looking comfortable (retaining the ball, not under much pressure, a two goal cushion etc).

I don't think he has done anything at all to address this, other than rotating a collection of attacking midfielders in the front four positions.

The squad he has available isn't as porous and as poor as our run of home results suggests, he could and should be getting more from them.

We've gone from a confidence boosting win that we could have hopefully built on, to one of our worst 45 minutes of football this season, because he chose to change formation and play people out of position, again. After the same sort of setup and personnel had been very poor and underwhelming at home in previous games.

The odd one off I could forgive more easily, it's been like this for months at home now pretty much, and he seems unwilling to, or incapable of making changes to our system (at home) that he is comfortable to do away or against PL teams.

I don't know why.

It's all well and good Carrick blaming himself but he needs to start showing us that he can learn from his mistakes.

To an extent I agree that he's been dealt a bad hand but at the same time, he's getting it wrong with regards to how he's setting up the team, and how he's setting the team up to play.

He should have either started with Forss up front yesterday, or Silvera as a false 9, and then had Azaz as a 10 and McGree wide left. And of course Dieng should definitely have been back in goal.

I felt he was trying to be too clever yesterday and it backfired.
