Well if it isn't then I will delete the post. I took it at face value like I do. It is posted on a few websites on 5th July so not sure it is something that has been dug up and the subject matter is relevant to recent times

Whatever you might think of Diane Abbott (who has just about the highest majority of any constituency MP, anywhere), the fact that someone has gone out of their way to manufacture that is pretty disgusting.
Its a smear campaign, and thats it. She might not be everyone's choice, but she gets elected and does her job very well indeed - as a constituency MP.

It's worrying that a member of this forum who is allowed to vote can publicly behave like this. But I think it runs deeper. It seems they are really unwell and needs a long break from the internet.

That's part of the problem these days, a lack of thinking.
I don’t want her in government, she just doesn’t fill me with confidence. However, I respect her, she seems a decent enough person (even though I disagree with her on some of her statements, including her comments on the recent BLM activist shooting) and her constituents seem to rate her locally, which is maybe where she does her best work.
Even if I don’t rate her for a major governmental role, I’d still trust her to do the right thing ahead of most of the incompetent and corrupt current bunch of tories, and the disproportionate amount of negative press and abuse she’s received (when plenty of others have made gaffs and mistakes) leads me to think some people might not like her for something other than her political skills.

It's amazing how easily people fall for a smear campaign, acting on instinct and prejudice rather than actually applying a bit of critical thinking.
My first question is always who stands to gain from this video, news report, meme, statistic etc. then that helps me understand why that particular piece of media exists and look at it through a logical lens instead of just a passion based one. Passions and pre-defined beliefs are the enemy of good decision making

Lots of MP's make complete asses of themselves so why just pick on Dianne Abbott. FFS one Tory MP didn't even know that Dover was an important route to the EU-
Another one bragged that he had an oven ready deal for Brexit. He also claimed there would be no border in the Irish Sea. The same MP said "Fk business" when told that business would be affected by Brexit.
One Tory MP laid down on the benches in the HoC on TV.
