While I welcome any investment to the north east surely you’d have to question a bid to make Stockton the epicentre of British railways? I mean it’s got stocktons roofless platform and thornaby station providing the railway links but what other infrastructure is there…
It’s got the historical link but the original 1825 track no longer exists.. I suppose there’s the old ticket station at the sailors restaurant and a road named after the date of the first track…
Surely York or even Darlington would be better..
I’m probably going to be accused of Tory bashing but surely investment needs to be viable and not just based on long gone historical links…
