Matt Hancock made me laugh this morning, unfortunately

Cannot believe his statement on Kay Burley show. Made me laugh out loud as I could not believe what I heard him say and I dont think Kay Burley could either. Apart from being useless he is also thick as mince. And shamefully he is prepared to back people like Tony Abbott.

asked about Tony Abbott’s possible new role as UK trade ambassador, and whether his history of homophobic and sexist remarks is compatible with the role.
Hancock says he “bows to nobody” in his support for the LGBTQ community but adds that Abbott has “a huge amount of expertise” on trade policy and adds: “We need to have the best experts in the world working in their field”.
“He’s a homophobe and a misogynist,” says Kay Burley. “Well, he’s also an expert in trade,” replies Hancock, to Burley’s disbelief, before Hancock adds: “What I’m saying is we need experts in different areas… it doesn’t change my views.”

Nicola Sturgeon added in a later interview
“You cannot simply say “Well he’s good at trade so it doesn’t matter that he’s a sexist, a misogynist and a climate change denier.”

Sorry Matt

Rest of Tory "expert" panel revealed:

Tony Abbott - trade
Harold Shipman - health
Peter Sutcliffe - transport
Jimmy Saville - charity
Rolf Harris - the arts
Fred West - home improvement
Adolf Hitler - Railway timetabling

I'd have Mussolini on the railways and Adolf in charge of minorities, but otherwise (y)

I thought you were talking about that horrendous comedian from Stoke... forget his first name but I knew you can't really have been talking about him coz he never made anyone laugh!

Just seen him on sky news. Brilliant by Kay Burley she got her fishing rod out and have laughing May a general LBGTQ question and he acted like a human being "people should be able to love whoever they want". Then come the Tony Abbott question and he reverted to the slimey Tory toad and fingered for another five minutes.
Are this lot going to get away with it? Surely people will see through them.
Or am I going to lose faith in humanity. Unfortunately if I was a betting man.....

I wish Nick Hancock would reappear, he could fill Room 101 up with Tory Ministers.

Surprised I didnt put Tony as I have been calling Tony Hancock for months now. This Hancock is sadder than Tony Hancock who played the most miserable man in the world sometimes.

Fair play to Conservative MP’s Jeremy Hunt and Caroline Nokes for their criticism of Abbott’s potential appointment, there’s no way that somebody with his views on equality and sexuality be representing this country as a government delegate.

This has got Dominic Cummings written all over it.

Then plebs like Hancock have to go on TV and try to handle it while Cummings sits out the back barking orders.

It's a depressing measure of how far we've fallen when Jeremy Chunt is the voice of reason. Not the first time since Boris came to power either.

In some ways Hancock is one of the more despicable members of the Cabinet because I don't actually believe his personal views are particularly aligned with quite a lot of what this government says and does. But he's quite happy to compromise on any principles he has for personal gain. It's pretty pathetic watching him scrambling about trying to defend the indefensible. I think he struggles because he knows he's on the wrong side of it but doesn't have the backbone to do anything about it.

The likes of Raab and Patel believe in what they're doing. No consciences to worry about there I think.

The clip made me laugh also. My wife looked a bit dumbfounded. Make no mistake it was a monumental cockup from Hancock

It's his use of the word 'also' that is the most amusing, but also the most telling.

Not so long ago Stewart Lee said the following in one of his routines

" And if political correctness has achieved one thing, it's to make the Conservative Party cloak its inherent racism behind more creative language."

These days they don't seem to feel like they need to bother hiding their more disgusting traits.

"what I think I should say is....."

Did he actually mean to say that part out loud?

Not the sharpest tool in the box is he? But does what he's told which is the important thing.

This is ripe for a Michael Spicer video. Almost too easy.
