If the rumour about him leaving is true ( I don’t think it is) then I wish him well. He’s been a good player for us and gave us all moments we will remember for a long time.

But, the amount of abuse/disrespect I’ve seen against his name since being named in the team on Saturday and also tonight now he’s been linked with a move away is very disappointing to read.

He’s been played out of position and is trying his best, if you want to point the frustration at anyone then point that towards Carrick for using him in positions that you won’t get the best out of Crooks.

Anyway, I think he will stay and prove a few people wrong.

I think he's a decent championship player but he doesn't fit any position in our current setup. He worked really well in Wilder's 3 man midfield.

He's definitely not a striker but it's not his fault he's been played as one.
That’s fine and I absolutely agree with that.

But there’s been a lot worse said about him unfortunately which he doesn’t deserve. It’s not his fault he’s played in forward positions.

In interviews when speaking about it you can tell he doesn’t like it either and it’s tough for him.

I think everyone appreciates his effort, character and attitude. But maybe he isn’t the desired quality we need? Certainly as a starter anyway
I agree he doesn’t start. But as I say, surely we need to point the finger towards Carrick then rather than crooks and some fans on here calling him worse than ***** before a ball is kicked on Saturday. Think it’s harsh after what he’s done in his time here

Good squad player. But it’s hardly surprising the things that are said, one look around Boro Twitter today you’ll see idiots asking where has the money gone, £30m in with nothing spent in the last few years, Gibson out because he’s trousered it. Few point out the clubs accounts are available to view and listed players signed but they don’t want to hear sense. The same people will be praising Crooks if he scores next week. We have our morons, everyone does.

From his personal point of view, an Ainsworth side is much more suited to his skill set than a Carrick one, good luck if he goes though, will always have fond memories of his key goals

He was at his best for us linking up with Jones down the right when we played with wing-backs.

Unfortunately he doesn't seem to fit into any other formation.

As a person, I'm completely in awe of him.
if he gets a move it will be good for him. Just think he’s owed a bit more respect from fans.

Can’t see him leaving after signing the years extension mind

For ages he always seemed to be a brilliant Jonny on the spot in the box, always popping up and scoring a goal, and then it just seemed to end which was a shame. He's a good lad though and I really enjoyed watching him during that purple patch, I really wish him well if he does leave.

I was very surprised he got a new contract and I can see him wanting to play every week, which I don't think he will at Boro

Like any player he has strengths and weaknesses. Chuba looked poor in a Warnock side.

Crooks won’t be effective in a Carrick side most of the time. So be it, best to get those technical players that suit Carricks side than get Carrick to change tactics to suit players that don’t fit.

He's not a striker, he's not a 10, he's not a winger, he's also not a Carrick type midfielder

But what he does have in his locker, is the ability to score some important goals for us, I think he is great to have on the bench, if we are chasing a game, or needing to go more direct, but I don't think he will get much game time with us, after Sept 1st

If he does leave then good luck to him, I think he would suit Ainsworths football style more than Carricks.

I agree mart I’m not sure you’ve grasped what the thread was about really. I think as a fan base we’re all pretty much United he doesn’t fit into the side anymore due to the formation and the way we’re going. The point was more attacks on him personally calling him ***** and stuff before he’s kicked a ball, it’s not his fault he’s been selected by Carrick.
