Matt Clarke

Nerve damage in his back. He has been back training but is nowhere near close to returning to first team football. Shame as we could really do with him.

Certainly looking like a career threatening injury?
You would think so, been out ten months, back 'fit' in late December/early January running on grass, but every time he returns to full training he has a recurrence. Gotta feel for the lad, hopefully a specialist somewhere can do something for him, but I assume the clubs medical team have explored all avenues to no avail so far.

God knows what we shelled out in wages / transfer fees or signing on fees for Clarke /Ameobi and Fisher.

Massive waste of money. Although they all passed medicals so guess it's just 'unlucky'.

Fisher is a bit different, he played plenty of games for us after signing, and then got injured at home months later.

12 isn't plenty

When he signed on the 29th of January, and we'd already played 26 games, I'd say it is.

He got injured with somebody landing on his leg at home in June and had surgery.

Nothing to do with the medical team missing anything, or breaking down playing football, it was just a freak accident, 4 months later.

Clarke picked up an injury almost immediately after signing and tried to play through it.
Ameobi got injured in the first training session.

Don't we have insurance to pay some of the wages when a player fails to play for a set period?

I would have thought Clarke will not be registered for the first team squad, as its impossible to set a return date. Better to loan a defender in, if there is no young player ready at the Club.

He is registered.
