Match ball from Banick Ostrava game.

Would anyone know the value of the above match ball. It had gone out of play as the final whistle went and acquaintance I know managed to pick It up. It has been signed by the team ( a friend of a friend knew George Boetang and he took it into the club) , however, unfortunately the signatures have faded somewhat.
Does anyone know what the value would be? Thanks
ps I was reminded of it by the Gazettes pictures today which showed it in its full glory.

I would say its is an awesome piece of memorabilia to own but firstly, how was it not collected by the referee at the final whistle, doesn't he have to walk off with the match ball & secondly, how could they prove it is the ball used in the game

But yes agree with alan's comments above

I and many other had watched Middlesbrough FC play across 'europe' many times before we went to Banik.

with provenance (such as pic evidence of the ball going out of play and the acquaintance picking it up) its got a value, without, its a tenner for the faded signatures.

do you know what make the ball is?

No idea what you have just wrote but I can guarantee you never watched boro in UEFA European competition Before that game but crack on

its not difficult block21, Banik Ostrava away was not the first time Middlesbrough had played in europe - "Match ball of our first game ever in Europe" First time in the Waffa cup, but not 'europe'.

as an aside, since 1876 every home game has been played on the continent of Europe.
Said it before and I will say it again. You are the strangest poster on this board. Go and bump a thread from 8 months ago for me cheers

assuming it is and can prove it what do you reckon on estimate?

Ref must have got the ball back before leaving the pitch surely?
If true it would be an outstanding piece of Boro history, and worth its weight in gold.
Seems too good to be true? Although maybe recent games have damaged my optimistic views

Thanks for the replies. Just to be clear, this is from the home game at the Riverside. The ball was kicked out of play on the final whistle ( I think towards the West Stand). My acquaintance scooped the ball up and made for the exit, a steward did try and retrieve it but they lost out on the tug of war. If I have time later, I’ll try and find the final minutes footage to confirm but I don’t know if it exists.

i have taken a couple of pics of the ball and I will attempt to a upload......

Great item but its certainly hard to put a value on it.

Maybe the best way is to go through an auction house. They might have more of an idea.

Probably the primary one in this country is Sportingold. Maybe worth dropping them an email.

Yes my thoughts exactly, firstly you will have to prove it is the match ball from the historic game, is a photo of the same ball enough? not to sure
Are the autographs that haven't faded genuine?, again this will needed to be proved & authorised
Then, if all are found to be genuine, what do you compare it to, a Charlton's Champions match ball, medal, carling cup medal, this is a one off, what would they compare it to

Please don't make out I'm belittling the item, which I ain't it's a great story & as an avid Boro memorabilia collector I think the item is unique, quality & one I woukd love to add to my collection

Don’t worry Erimus, you are right as such claims would need to be proved before selling it on ( it is possible that if someone has the full match recorded that you see the ball go into the crowd on the final whistle. I’ve looked on YouTube but can’t find anything). I wasn’t actually aiming to sell it, I was just interested in what people thought it was worth.

Ive done a bit of further research on the type of ball used. It is a Nike T90 Aerow 1, this was used by the premier league in the 2004/5 season. The ball I have has the premier league motif on it. There are people selling these balls themselves for £300-£400 on eBay but I’m not sure if that’s a true reflection of value.
