We do need bodies in and it all sounds promising providing he's up to speed fitness wise (or can be relatively quickly).

There's also the added bonus of him having a name that sounds like Spanish for massive c*ck when said in a Spanish accent, which instantly appeals to my schoolboy sense of humour, and makes him signing a more attractive proposition.
 
I'd be happy with this. Probably more of a defensive minded midfielder but can operate in the box to box role as well. Very good competition for Howson although I'd actually say Luongo is the better player (in that role).
 
I think I was expecting a summer signing to leave howsen on the bench . Not an insult to howsen but just natural progression as howsen is in his twilight . He’s had more managers at boro than we’ve had prime ministers.
 
We have no one to cover Howson if/when he picks up a knock (or god forbid, a big injury).

McNair, Crooks, Mowatt can't play there and do what Howson does.

Fear the worst if/when Howson is missing for a game or two (or more!)

Agree he's heading towards the end of his career, but he played almost every single game last season. He looks pretty good so far this season too. Age is just a number for some players.

I think having Howson as our starting CDM and some cover like Massimo Luongo would work well.

I get the feeling if its a one game ban he will play Dijksteel on the right, providing McNair is fit. Dijksteel offers far more going forward, which is what makes the system work
