Not a bad first season for a development player contributing towards 15 goals from a wide position. How do you think he will do this season?

He grew on me.

I think he is now cemented as a valuable member of the squad.

Hoping him and Jones have a real ding-dong for that right sided position next season, that brings out the best in each of them

Overall a decent 7.5/10 season for the lad last year, in my humble opinion of course!

Carrick was forced to play with what he got [with the exception of Archer / Ramsey].
Suggest that this season we will see a more fluid formation and utilisation of players in different positions.

Assuming most our signings will be late in the window I think Forss might get the chance to secure the number 9 position over the first few games, with Jones playing on the right.
Fully agree 👍

I think it's clear that we no longer see Jones as a wing back. So that almost certainly means on the right of a 3. Also squad number 11 suggests this (not that it's a nailed on number science).

So Forss may get a go down the middle. I actually think he looked as effective on the right. A 'wideman' who had a knack finding space in the box.

I'd say he was a terrific signing at a decent price. Especially if you factor in age etc. A bit like Mcgree. Decent age and great bit of buisness.

I'm sure he'd love the opportunity to play down the middle.

Completely agree with that.

I do actually think he was far better/ effective from the right. It seemed to benefit his game not being as 'focused' on by the defence, and being able to come on to the play a little later and from the wide position.

What I will say for him is he seems to have a bag full of confidence nowadays - down to MC and his own form - compared to the looking very lost under CW early on.

He was better from the right when we didn't have Archer playing. He basically played as the striker with a strange starting position. With Archer he had to be more of the creator which he is less good at. All in all though a decent go at it and way better than I would have expected. If we want to be challenging at the top I think we could improve that position with a new signing for someone more orthodox out there.

Has he been given #11?

It's good figures for sure but he didn't actually get moved out to Jone's position until 29th Dec so it's 5 contributions as a CF and from his RM role under MC it was 10 . But , whilst building up his good spell was also benched for 3 consecutive games to accommodate Ramsey getting a start so really , maybe could have got even more. Because on his next 2 starts when Ramsey was benched , he scored 1 in each.

Think he's been seen in training kit with 11 on.

Although in past seasons the numbers they've worn in training aren't necessarily the same as squad numbers. So unless it's been stated elsewhere I don't think it really means much at this stage.

cold hard facts - thats what we like

He was class from that right side in the 2nd half of the season. Scored a lot of match winning goals for us. We really missed him in those few games he missed towards the back end of the season. A lot of people talking about Ramsey being missing but we missed Forss just as much. He didn't look fully fit in that home game against Coventry either.

His defending got better as the season progressed. He was working back and putting tackles in.

I can't see Jones taking that position from him to be honest.
If we manage to keep Chuba obviously he stays in the no10 role.
If we don't re-sign Archer we will need someone else to play the out-and-out striker role. I'd be 90% sure we would bring someone in with potentially Coburn as a back up. I don't think we'll see Forss up there.

Jones is going to have work his way back into the team in my opinion.

I wouldn't completely write Forss off as a centre forward just yet. He did seem more effective on the right but people seem to forget we were flying before Archer (and Ramsey) arrived and with Forss as the number 9.

I think his movement created a lot of space for Akpom even if he didn't get too many touches in some games.

His finishing of course speaks for itself wherever he plays.

Having watched a few streams with commentators biased towards the opposition, a lot of times they were praising Forss for his work rate - that was either early in the season when he was usually playing up top, or later in the season when he was playing wide. Carrick got more out of him playing wide, but he is a good finisher despite not actually scoring many when playing as a striker.

It would be nice if the club managed to sign a few more players like him this summer.

It would be nicer if the club managed to sign a few more players better than him in the summer - but in the same price bracket as MF ;)
