Jim Platt did fancy himself as a centre forward & did, occasionally, play such a role for the 2nd team, if needed
Sadly, the only one I have in my collection of Jim Platt actually named as the CF for a game
Jim had been No2 all season with Jim Stewart brought in as the No1 keeper & most likely played to keep himself fit
Oddly enough Jim played his 1st first team game of the season only 5 days earlier, which he then kept, apart from 7 games, until Jim Stewart left the Boro in 1981
By this time Dave Brown had played his last 1st team game & just running down his contract
