Maradona Died - According to Argentina Paper CLARIN

I remember at the world cup when he was all bloated and clearly not well, when the camera panned to him he was making v signs at the opposing fans or something and lineker was very sniffy about it. Not me. I'd much rather see some genius nutcase flailing around than the santised bull**** that FIFA present to the world.
Give me maradona, cruyff and cantona over Pele and Messi any day of the week. A joy to watch and always entertaining.

He was also caught on camera doing coke at the same World Cup, the sort of habit that has led to his early death.

Pele and Messi not a joy to watch and entertaining? ;)

Utter genius of a player on the pitch, and of questionable character off the pitch.

However, regardless of my mixed feelings towards him, he is undoubtedly one of (perhaps THE)greatest of all time.

The footballing world is a darker one with his passing.

RIP Diego

Mythical God like creature that graced this earth in human form, that succumbed to human frailties

No higher pedestal can Maradonna be placed and will share GOAT with Pele for ever more.

R.I.P

Watch his documentary....brilliant

I was 10 in 86 and the playground debates over him and Platini were my first real memories of discussing football and players.

Legend of the game regardless of his off field antics. RIP Diego

My Argentinian friend, named Diego for obvious reasons, will mourn his passing greatly. Born an American, but very much Argentinian, at our wedding he introduced himself to my friends as James as he was aware of the history and didn't want to open old wounds

Really sad news indeed. Whatever you think of the man, he was an incredible talent with a football at his feet. His hand of god moment should never have been held against him, it was the officials that were the problem. I recall many of our own fans cheering Jimmy Floyds late helping hand equaliser v the skunks.

RIP Diego, thanks for the memories.

Sad news, fortunate enough to have seen him in his prime, albeit only a friendly, head and shoulders above some outstanding players that day.

All players cheat, if its in our favour we turn a cheek, if against us then we shout it from the rooftops
