One of the best goalscorers to play for our football club, 147 goals in 360 games between 1985 & 1993

Scored his 1st Boro goal, home debut, at the holgate end v Bradford City on the 19th October 1985 & his final Boro goal, holgate end v Man United on the 3rd October 1992

He scored our 1st FAC hattrick after liquidation & the 1st FAC hattrick since 1977 when scoring all 3 v Blackpool 15th November 1986 & at present, our last FAC hattrick to date, also the scorer of our 1st top flight away hattrick for 41 years, when Cecil McCormack scored 3 at Blackburn in November 1947, when Bernie scored 3 goals away to Coventry City in October 1988

Bernie went on to score 6 hattricks for the Boro & I was there at everyone of those 6

Also a very skillful footballer who could play upfront as a pair.

I still dream of someone like him signing for the Boro and getting 15+ goals EVERY season.
 
Mate of mine was at the Boro towards the end of Slaven's time.
He was a promising 17 year old centre half and he got drafted in to train with the 1st team to give them a game.
Slaven gave him two black eyes with his elbows.
Lovely man.
 
My first sporting hero. Still remember my dad taking me to Woolworths in Redcar to get an autobiography (how many has he had by the way o_O:D) signed circa 1992. Good memories. Happy birthday to the Wolfman.
