McTominay would probably be dismissed by fans as a bad signing but wouldn’t surprise me to see Carrick get the best out of him. Could be a shout that

He's a very good player, holds his own at Man U. Probably not quite good enough for them, but easily (too?) good enough for us.

Would be an excellent replacement for Howson......but he won't come cheap and we will have to fight to get him.
