Making a stand against referees

When will managers come together and condemn these performances. Swanseas managers comments after the game will never allow these referees to be held accountable and force them to improve.

I'm sure warnock will be giving the ref a shocking rating today but what will Swansea give him?

His comments after the game were appalling, it's ok they got lucky today but next game if the boots on the other foot? I'm mainly talking about his comment on the stone wall penalty they got against stoke. Unbelievable when everyone knows they cheated.

What happened to retrospective action too naughton should be banned for diving and why wasnt the blackburn player banned for kicking fry. If someone elbows someone 9ff the ball and its missed they are banned?

Today made feel sick watching such an inept performance by the officials and actually think they were cheating, they cant be that bad surely. It wasnt just the major decisions but throw ins, free kicks they got soo much wrong.

Until football clubs stand together against this it will never change.

Standing against referees will never work. We need to support referees improve the technology.. get more footballers into it. Open up pathways, promote the profession.

It's hardly melodramatic when you look at the performance of these officials over the season and I'm not just talking about yesterday or against us.

My main issue never involved us it was the Swansea manager saying the pen against stoke was stonewall.

Newy your probably right they do need help but if the manager who gets the luck that day comes out and supports the decisions hows it ever gonna improve. At the moment the standard is awful.

any manager is going to do that. it’s down the the governing bodies to keep their officials straight. if that’s all they have to work with.. not much else they can do.

Regrettably I’m rapidly going off footy . Don’t mind getting beat fairly ( Blimey I’m a Boro fan ) but I’m sick and tired of getting robbed by the little Hitlers and ruining my weekend

It doesn't help when players cheat left right and centre and are encouraged to do so by pundits, managers etc. The latest trend for screaming in agony at the slightest touch as well. I heard this during a Bournemouth game on Quest a few months back and its getting more noticeable as highlighted yesterday in the Arsenal match.

Players charging round the referee was supposed to have been getting clamped down on but it happens every game. At least 4 players surrounded the ref yesterday before he changed his mind, if they hadn't would he have changed it?

Someone said (probably Warnock!) that referees know all the rules but don't know the game and that's spot on. Somehow we have to get more ex players into refereeing.

Somehow there has to be some kind of communication process so that clubs/fans can have it explained to them how these decisions are arrived at by referees. I'm not advocating putting them into front of the press as there would be no refs left within a season but some kind of statement on the big decisions should be managable?

Although not in soccer I arbitrated in sport at an international level. I remember on one national comp they tried a discussion with the coaches.. The abuse over one minor error was sufficient to ensure it never happened again. There were suggestions that we'd all just pack up and go home

Imagine that with soccer fans - the refs would disappear over night and no refs - no game

Hence the likely route to success is to make the officials better.

Education and Technology has to be the way forward You will never completely eliminate human error so some problems will remain but to avoid re-reffing games etc you have to ensure that the refs are as good as they can be with the best back up kit. Do you need the man in the TV van to assist the ref as in Rugby - maybe
