Well it's certainly not the lead on Look North. Very much a Teesside story, unfortunately.

Behave. There were two headlines in the local news preview during the national 6 o'clock news; The Mackems' Jawdee love-in and some remote off-grid house for sale in the Dales.

They started the local program with yet another negative Teesside story about drug dealers and knife crime.

I developed the chips on both my shoulders after neigh on 60 years watching 'local' news bringing us positive jawdee reports and negative Teesside reports.

When there is a positive report about a Teesside man/woman, they say North Eastern man/woman.
When there is a negative report about a Teesside man/woman, they say Teesside man/woman.

and conversely:

When there is a positive report about a Newcastle man/woman, they say Newcastle man/woman.
When there is a negative report about a Newcastle man/woman, they say North Eastern man/woman.

Its a pattern I noticed years and years ago and hasn't improved much over the years.
