Evening all!

Any of you Mac users out there had an serving done on Teesside?
I've previously used a place in Castleford but looking for someone in the area that is trusted.

Many thanks in advance.

Not sure - I think it might just need a new battery butI only replaced it about a year ago so wondering if it's something else. It goes from full to empty in minutes and then sometimes is stuck on 7% charging and won't move

I can't speak for locally, but I had a new battery and clean done on my 2013 Macbook Pro by North Dorset MacMan, based in Bournemouth. I shipped it to him, he checked it, told me what was wrong and the price and I authorised the repairs then it was shipped back. I can recommend him if you don't mind being without it for a couple of weeks.

Home & Business Apple Mac support, Dorset (northdorsetmacman.co.uk)
Thanks for that - Unfortunately, I need it for work related stuff

This is from the link assuming you don't have the T2 chip from 2018. There's not much you can do but try these things https://www.avast.com/c-reset-mac-pram-smc befor going to seek help. I have a macbook from 2012 that is still working but it is a rare occurance. 5 years is better than average life expectancy on Apple devices. I know, I've gone toe to toe with a few. If dry solder doesn't get them, system updates will.

Make sure all you want is in the cloud or backed up somewhere before you do anything else.

I thought my SMC was dead, but when it went for repair, turned out it was condensation on the motherboard. They dried it out and checked it over and its been fine since. 10 years old now and still no need to replace it.

Also, I have Monterey running on my 2013 MBP, its not supposed to have it but I used OpenCore to do it and its been fine.

For laptop repairs(not a mac book though) in the past I've used a lad in portrack (can't remember the name, but he's right on the little row of shops opp the bus depot). Always been straight with me price wise...to the point that last time I needed it repairing he quoted me a price and then it was actually cheaper when I picked it up as the parts that were needed were on offer.
