Lumley

Had a better game today, still flapped at a couple.

I wonder if he’s done enough today to make us hold off on the current premier league goalkeeper we’re trying desperately to sign - a big coup if it comes off.
Who is that?

I am one of his biggest critics on here, mainly because he is poor on crosses and holding on to the ball, but after Tav, he was the next best player on the team today for me, made 2 really good saves and punched well when called upon. He earned us at least 2 points today if not all 3, credit where its due Joanna 👏

Fully agree with Col. played well today. Could do nothing about goal at Blackburn. He’s getting better. Looks more composed than a month ago when playing out from the back and he is committing to stay or go. I like the lad and I’m less worried about the No1 spot.
Ain’t nobody……

Comparing him to Dimi, who was part of a promotion winning team, is intersting i think, because both are good without being great.

Lumley is good enough for me.

Joe's been in fine form and was very good today. He's looking far more confident than I ever expected to see, in a Boro jersey .. Since his first game with us, like many of us lot, I have critiqued him as not good enough for a serious promotion contender team on more occasions than I care to remember :ROFLMAO:

That header he stopped today, although it was direct, I reckon he'd have made a mess of that not so long ago. It was a great save. I remember Roy Keane moaning about people who say keepers are 'great shot stoppers' as that is what their job is .. :ROFLMAO: ... joking aside, it's JL's all-around game that is getting better too. You can feel his presence on the pitch more. Confidence. He's looking more like a real GK.

I was sure Wilder would be looking to loan/buy a new no.1 as soon as the window opened. (He still could be for all I know)

Lumley's performances are a vast improvement on what we have been used to pre-Wilder and for as long as he can keep going like he is, I feel less nervous about us seeing out the season with him between the sticks. I hope he takes the chance and only gets better.

10 clean sheets in 22 starts puts him joint second in the league. But Goalkeeper is a priority?

Great game from him today, getting better every week
The other week when Jones won player of the month wilder said he told him it’s a team award , he’s won it from a team effort .
Now we have our first choice defence jn front of the keeper there’s less pressure on him , results have improved and he now has the confidence of 10 clean sheets . Now all we need is our strikers averaging 2 goals a game .

To be fair Sporar has 4 in his last 6. Be good if he can keep this up

He is getting better with each game. Seems to be world class at falling on the ball and wasting time when we are hanging on. Deserved MOTM today.

Made some decent saves today, but his shot stopping has rarely been a problem. Flapped at a few crosses he could have held and pushed a shot straight back into play which he could have put behind for a corner. All things that just put more pressure on a defence that still doesnt exactly look solid. A decent keeper at this level but a side going for promotion still needs significantly better
