Luke Littler

Littler 4/5 (17 year old) v Van Gerwen (in his own Country) Evens!

Is it me or does Van Gerwen look small compared to how he used to throw? Maybe he is leaning forward now, trying to get nearer the target?

Amazing that Littler is favourite against MVG so soon after his breakthrough.

Littler has really got to MVG hasn’t he? MVG doesn’t look like he believes he can win, not seen that before.

Whether he fulfils his potential or not depends entirely on his personality and the people around him. He doesn’t seem arrogant at all in interviews so I don’t think ego will be a problem but the real challenges will come when he leaves home and the hangers on get to him and when he inevitably has a dip in form.

I'm not a big darts fan but i did see something about since his final defeat he's played the same lad and won a few times, and that lad lost quite badly to a low ranked player recently, funny how things happen like this.

Littler lost, and it's spurred him on and he's flying
Humphries won and he's struggled, perhaps his main drive was to beat the little upstart and get that title and now he's done that he's struggling with motivation?

You often see new world champions have a month or two of poor form afterwards. He will have been doing a load of extra stuff away from the board which often means practicing and competing take a back seat for a little bit. Littler said himself that he had barely thrown a dart between the worlds and his first tournament win a couple of weeks later. I expect them both to be challenging for the top honours for years to come if they dedicate themselves properly.
