Loyalist paramilitaries withdraw support from Good Friday Agreement

Well you have missed out there then. The government has about £1b on the Towns Fund compared to over £10b on the Amazing Dildo Harding track and trace scheme.
Teesport could have been a freeport without Brexit. There are free zones throughout the EU and were in fact 5 freeports in UK until 2012 when the Tories got rid of them.
And in terms of tax, I guess you haven't worked out yet that you are going to pay more tax every year until 2026, after this years £70 reduction.
What's Dido Harding got to do with this? EU free ports aren't really free ports (heavily regulated), so we would not have been able to have this free port model in the EU, so you are fundamentally wrong on that. As someone who pays into the highest tax bracket I'm happy to do so if it helps rebuild the country after this pandemic. Taxes had to go up

Try going to a catholic school in Omagh in 1981 with an English accent = good hiding going home from school .

Then going to a Catholic secondary school in Boro on return = good hiding because of the troubles .

edit . Just shows how pitiful and woeful the whole thing was . A bit like Punch and Judy .

will the *loyalist paras have to go back to the gaol if their gang decide they dont want it anymore.

"Then going to a Catholic secondary school in Boro on return = same good hiding because of the troubles "

i went to a catholic secondary school in Middlesbrough through the 70s 1973-1977 - never had any problem or chew over what was going on in Ireland we had the usual bun fights with adjacent schools, but had nowt to do with the carry ons in the 6 counties.

What the DUP are complaining about is a direct result of their own intransigence over the Customs Union which helped get rid of May. They helped put Johnson in place and voted for the Withdrawal Agreement with the border in the Irish Sea and are now crying over the result.

Simon Coveney the Irish government’s Foreign Affairs Minister explained it simply a month ago when Johnson threatened to invoke Article 16.

“The problem is caused by Brexit, and the kind of Brexit that the British government pursued and insisted on, because there were alternatives that would have been much easier to implement, the EU wanted to share a customs union and single market with the UK, that would have meant no barriers to trade.

“Some people are trying to rewrite history here … the protocol itself is about solving problems that are caused by Brexit, trying to protect an all-island economy, prevent border infrastructure on the island, or tense political relationships on the island.”

Well said.

A good mate of mine had the same, he had to change accents twice but it had nothing to do with 'the toubles'.

Same for kids moving here from anywhere else, always somebody to have a go at them.

Think what it was Wilf , at school there were a few ‘key influential ’ families from Park End/ B Hills who had related young squadies over there at that horrendous time ( for everyone ) .

The loyalists making it a nightmare to live in is why the army were first used in the 60s.
Very true.

I once stayed in the Days Inn and did not get there until it was dark. In the morning I opened the curtains to a huge mural 'Welcome to Loyalist Sandy Flatts'

I decided to go into town on the night for a drink.

What a load of bull.
You talk as though you were the only person in Boro going to a Catholic shool during the 70s.

I’m referring to coming back from Ireland to Middlesbrough and enduring strife like many people did ( a little bit different from you ) My point is that it was such a horrendous time . Like I said above - for everyone

The protocol itself isn't a result of brexit so much as the kind of brexit johnson had to chase as part of the agreement for him getting the keys to no 10.

The whole thing is a pooh show.

Which catholic school was this? I went to catholic schools in Middlesbrough mid seventies to late eighties and I can’t think of one person that would have given grief to anyone because of the situation in Northern Ireland. Most of us were too busy thinking about footy, cricket , girls and music.

Sandy Flatts? - thats up by the avenue of trees - do you mean Sandy Row ?
Yeah it is on the corner of the Sandy Row, used to park my car near there just by the Glasgow Rangers supporters club also on the Sandy Row Donegal road cross roads never a spot of bother in twenty odd years. Although always wondered what the tourists thought of the giant bonfire in the hotel carpark in July 🙂

That's interesting, as many Republicans believe the army were only deployed to protect the Union, and the Northern state was on the verge of collapse.
Yeah the Army was deployed as the Catholics were being forced out of their homes in prodesant areas
