Lost it last night on the pitch

Playing footy up at the local outdoor pitches and on the opposite side was a young lad, small, nippy and a bit skilful. Now I am 51 and he was about 20 so I knew if he ran at me I would have no chance so I was nipping at him when he first received the ball. Nothing malicious, just making sure he didn't have time to turn. On one occasion he flicked the ball round me and ran into me, nobody shouted for obstruction so the game went on. I then received a pass and he charged right into me and elbowed me deliberately with force in my ribs which I now think is broken.

Anyway the upshot of it all is i called him a 'dirty little ****' and if he did it again I would 'rip his back out, tear off his head and sh1t down the neck'

He said that I had been kicking him all game which was probably his justification for elbowing me.

Was I being unreasonable in what I said to him? :)

"if he did it again I would 'rip his back out, tear off his head and sh1t down the neck'"

This was probably, in hindsight, a little strong. :ROFLMAO:

I was always taught that if someone leaves one on you, keep it in the memory bank and if you don't manage to get it in by the end of the game, shake hands because there will always be a next time. Then again, that was competitive local rugby union.

I never let anyone know they have hurt me, then just go in stronger on next challenge

I always think if they are having to do challenges like that it means you have got inside their heads

Yeah I am like that but I think the pain of a broken rib clouded my thinking.

Playing for Teesside Uni, myself and the other centre midfield would target our opposite numbers and be at them all game. Nothing against the rules but niggling and tough. At the end, in the student union, we would find them both and buy them a pint. What's happens on the pitch stays on the pitch.

It sounds like you've been leaving a bit on him which is fair enough. But if your gonna give it, you need to take it.

Personally I'd have held back the tears, attempted to laugh in his face, then let it all out when I got back to the car.

Your reaction has given him the win. He will have gone home the happier.
To be fair I didn't think I was leaving anything on him, nobody else saw it that way. I have played up front before and know that if you have your back to goal the defender would be nibbling to put you off. That was all I was doing.

Yeah there's nothing wrong with it. But it's going to p1ss someone off when your are doing it all night. Not nice being nibbled constantly. Eventually your gonna get an elbow your way.

Aah so you are saying there is nothing wrong with nibbling someone but it's ok to break someone's rib deliberately?
