The Lady herself...Gatesheads celebrity Peak, The Leicestershire And Derbyshire Yeomanry .
Lost count the amount of times I saw it...it was a regular through Darlington, moreften on its way to Plymouth. Always looked in better nick than the Toton Peaks to me.

It arrived at Loughborough Central in Leicerstershire many moons ago, in a dreadful state. No one actually believed it would ever run again. It was lovingly restored and its Name was commemorated by the Mayor of Loughborough - in which town the local TA Infantry Platoon was known as C-Coy, 4 Royal Anglian Rgt [Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry - Prince Alberts Own] (y)

I was never a trainspotter as a boy, though now in my dotage I'm beginning to display some worrying signs. Was recently up in Kielder for a long weekend, so I of course had to tell my long suffering for the nth time all about Plashetts Station - in fact the whole village, including the coal mine - submerged beneath the water. She's getting quite good at feigning interest these days.

Seriously though, if you've never been round there, do yourself a favour and go. The remains of the Border Counties Line are quite stunning and if you follow it all the way to Newcastleton you'll see they're right now trying to persuade NR to reinstate their section.
