Received my booking appointment letter today. By telephone I was offered East Boldon (40.3 miles away). So tried online only to be offered Newcastle (40.5 miles away).
Anyone else having similar issues?

Took my dad to North Ormesby and my Aunty to Thorntree

Mrs. Foggy and I get our jabs tomorrow, at home because Mrs. F is still extremely vulnerable following her life-threatening illness last year.

Our doctor’s practice and another practice in Berwick are administering all jabs so in our case it is indeed local, for which everyone round here is very grateful.

I got my letter today, I can either wait for my GP to contact me or do a 70 mile round trip to the nearest centre with availability.

Well sorry to sound ungrateful, but I'll gladly travel for mine, it's free and I have the ability to travel, I'd take it up so allowing those that don't have that ability to get theirs closer to home- sooner.

Both my Dad (90+) and good lady her in doors went to James Cook. Missus was offered the option of The Friarage at Northallerton (where she works).

When my turn comes I'll be happy to go wherever I have to. At the moment I guess that won't be till March/April?

Acklam pharmacy is on the website, lots of appointments this morning at 10, they’d all gone by 1. I think a lot of letters had been received this morning as such the ones on the website went quick.

There was options for one near st Patrick’s school in Stockton and ones in Hartlepool and Darlington too but chances are they’ve all gone already if it’s anything like acklams, this doesn’t include gp surgeries so it might be best to ring your gp if you have No luck on the website

If only that was an option. Any routine calls to my local medical practice (St George's, Middleton-St-George) are met with a pre-recorded message specifying that they WON'T be offering Covid vaccinations. I guess I'll have to wait until somewhere a bit more accessible is available.

The bookings only go so far into the future so might be worth logging on to see if they have refreshed and include the next day, not sure if this would be midnight or 6am or something like that?

I received a call from my GP on Tuesday afternoon to pop down the day after. The health centre is shared by a number of practices, the whole centre being dedicated to vaccinations yesterday, it's in Billingham on Finchale Road. It was extremely well organised and I vaccinated bang on the time allotted.

I also received a letter yesterday informing me how I could book a test if I wanted to. Is that so that they can say that everyone has been offered the test?

My dads got his through for Northallerton. Tbh I think my mum is glad as it means she gets a drive out

Had them first thing this morning, completely painless and no side effects so far. I couldn't believe how small the jar of vaccine was, about an inch and a half tall, it contained 11 vaccinations, the nurse said they have to use it within 6 hours of it being issued to them, fortunately we were the first two on her roster this morning. She said we will get the second in 4 to 12 weeks. She also said that a number of care home staff and personal carers are refusing to take it, which none of us could understand.

Yes I've heard that about some care home staff and carers not wanting to take it. They should think themselves lucky they have had the opportunity. Nowt so queer as folk.

It is up to each individual, however they must see - daily - the effect the virus has had on the people they care for... I did read something about staff being required to take the vaccine else possibly losing their jobs (may have been in US) though I don't think its an unreasonable request for a business to expect / stipulate of its staff.

I wonder what % of care home staff / carers are of anti-vax / fake covid mentality.

Yes it is an individual choice, and as they pose no more risk to others than if they had taken the vaccine then that's ok. If an employer then decides that it is in the business interest to insist that they have the vaccine then that is a matter for them. But I can't see it happening here.
