On reflection Truss needs to stay for a few more months. By then the tory party will no longer exist. Sunak is another bent far right cnut but may actually turn the polls around.

It doesn’t matter who they replace Truss with, it can’t be turned around. It is only a damage limitation strategy now, with the vague chance of a Hail Mary coming off.
They are toast and they would normally be toast for at least a decade. The only reason they might not be is the absolute economic carnage they have inflicted will probably take so long to recover from the public will also blame the next government.

This present version of the Tory party is dead…it’s really just hanging around waiting to be buried. Unfortunately the next election is probably not the one to win, for the reasons you mention.
