Liverpool and Ziege

He actually provided evidence that confirmed the illegal approach too.

Was given ne a very unfair reputation over that move by our fans I think.

I was always under the impression they bid 1 pound over the release clause and that was the reason it flared up, if he had a release clause why not just bid that fee exactly? Not sure what went on but he was **** hot for us, so dynamic.

I gave a witness statement in support of Middlesbrough's legal case. I was called from work and was in a queue with several former Boro players giving evidence to a club solicitor.
I remember being bemused that the case was still ongoing but behind the scenes Boro were enjoying a lot of legal success and eventually there was a major out of court settlement.

Considering that we were proven to have won our case rob why is it such a low key issue as really they should be branded for the wrong doers they are.

as Liverpools reputation is largely intact despite being proven to have tapped ziege up.

Did they buy our silence ??

After the shambles of the 3-point fiasco, we were deservedly overdue for some legal success. Would be interested in recalling our other legal successes from the time, Rob?

I'm not sure it was unfair. He could have told his agent to back off, or he could have rejected Liverpool. IT was his decision ultimately to dump us after just 1 season, after we had saved his career, and the start of it was him telling Dietmar Hamman that he had a 5.5m release clause, so Liverpool offered £5,500,001. Liverpools chief exec is the biggest villain, but Ziege was entirely at fault too. The final 8 years of his career were a disaster other than his year with us

I think it was a fee of over 5,500,000 must be accepted. so 5,500,001 is over, just

Would you pass on an opportunity to move from boro to Liverpool, objectively speaking and not as a boro supporter?
depends, if it was to be a prem league starter at a progressing MIddlesbrough or a bench warmer at Liverpool, then maybe not

I think players need to be accountable for their own actions . It’s easy to play dumb and allow agents to control you but these decision won’t necessarily be good footballing ones but financial ones . He remains our best ever left back , who knows what may of followed had he simply remained in a place where he was enjoying his football
