Wild World delivered here by writer Cat Stevens . Much more melodic and thoughtful version than the Jimmy Cliff version - over produced British reggae pap

In the 1970s the Bay zcity Rollers came up eith this “commercial success but in doing so ruined what was the great original by the Honercombs

I never realized that Paul Young song was actually a cover. I've got to say, I still prefer Paul's! Don't throw anything at me! I love Marvin Gaye honest.

The reason I love the cover version is I'll always associate it with the video, which I think was set in a Newcastle pub???

Remember it is Easter, so this only works today as in the musical he isn't resurrected. And there isn't any encore beyond the curtain call.

Could we also have little known originals that aren’t miles better than their better known cover versions?

I only ask because I thought Love Buzz was an original Nirvana song until I found out very recently that it was by a band called Shocking Blue, who also originally sang the Bananarama hit song Venus.

The problem is that it doesn’t follow your rules because I prefer the Nirvana version. 😬

Shocking Blue are an amazing band - great late 60s Dutch garage rock:

Not exactly little known.... but I liked Coldplay's version of 'Viva La Vida' better than One Direction's.
